Sellers Compliance FAQs

How much does it cost to make my Queensland property compliant for sale?

Smoke Alarm Solutions installs Emerald Alarms for $124 each (fully installed) under our Sellers Compliance service. This is a fixed cost and includes installation, hard-wiring and radio frequency bases where required. We also provide a compliance report following our attendance. For us to provide you a more accurate price, we require a few details about your property layout.

How do I comply my property?

You can get a quote or comply your property via our website here.

Can I enrol my property over the phone?

Our Sellers Compliance service has an online enrolment process only.

My property is already enrolled in a Smoke Alarm Solutions service. How do I organise compliance?

If your property is enrolled in one of our annual services and has not been upgraded to the new legislation, you will need to comply your property online here. If your property has the new style of smoke alarms installed, you can organise to have a once off pre-sale inspection. You can enrol in this service here.

What is your turn around time to carry out compliance?

Turnaround time is dependent upon location of your property and current demand. Under our Sellers Compliance service, we aim to comply the property within four weeks or less and we often complete the upgrade much sooner than this. Once you have completed the online enrolment process, you will receive an email to advise the next steps, including when we will be attending your property.

Do you offer an express service?

Yes, we offer a two business day turnaround for an additional fee of $199, for properties located in certain areas.

Which areas do you offer your express service?

Your property must be located within a 50km radius of the Cairns, Townsville, Mackay or Rockhampton General Post Offices, or it is located within a 150km radius of the Brisbane General Post Office. Please note, islands that are inaccessible by road are ineligible for the Express Service.

I have booked online but haven’t had a confirmation?

Please ensure you check your junk mail as a confirmation is sent as soon as your complete your request. If you still can’t find it, please email sellerscompliance@smokealarmsolutions.com.au for assistance.

Where will you send the Compliance Report following your attendance?

The certificate is sent to the seller’s email address as listed when completing the enrolment for your property.

What if I don’t install smoke alarms prior to contract?

If your smoke alarms do not meet all legislative requirements, the buyer is entitled to 0.15% of the purchase price which is most cases is higher than the cost to install.

Do I need to supply the Compliance Report with the contract?

There is no requirement to submit a Compliance Report by law however it is your proof that legislation has been met.

I don’t have a PayPal account. How do I make payment online?

You don’t need to log in to a PayPal account to pay. There is an option to pay via credit or debit card under the PayPal option.

Why have I received an invoice for another smoke alarm following your visit?

When you enrol your property in our Sellers Compliance service, we provide a quote based on the number of bedrooms and levels in the property. This is an indication only based on a typical property layout. If on our attendance, we note another alarm is required for compliance, you will receive this invoice following our attendance. By using our service, you are agreeing to this condition.

What happens if after I have paid for the Sellers Compliance service, Smoke Alarm Solutions discover the property is compliant to the requirements?

We will refund the amount you paid minus our once off attendance fee of $100. We will carry out an inspection and issue a Compliance Report in this instance.
