Is your property bushfire safe?
Australia’s leading provider of smoke alarm compliance and maintenance services is urging Queenslanders to be bushfire ready this Summer.
Startling figures compiled by the Australian Productivity Commission estimates there will be at least 50,000 bushfires in 2019.
Additional research commissioned by NASA, in collaboration the CSIRO predicts the most seriously affected areas will be tropical and subtropical areas in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
In the first 19 days of Queensland’s official 2018 / 2019 bushfire season, the Queensland Fires and Emergency Service recorded more than 1,000 vegetation fires and exposures.
Smoke Alarm Solutions CEO Cameron Davis said you don’t have to live in rural parts of Queensland to be threatened by bushfire, you just have to be close enough to be affected by smoke, embers and burning material.
“Queenslanders should be familiar with the official bushfire warnings levels and have a bushfire survival plan in place,” Mr Davis said
“Residents and landlords should ensure there is no rubbish around their properties and gutters are free of leaves and debris. Mowed lawns and well-maintained gardens minimise the threat of fires.
“Operational smoke alarms should also be in every home, however recent research suggests 15 per cent* of Queensland properties do not have working smoke alarms.
“Working smoke alarms should be in every home. I’m stunned tens of thousands of Queenslanders would rather gamble with their safety and the lives of family and friends.
